The seats were colder than the sleet falling down outside the window. The airline pilot finally announced that they would depart in five minutes. The entire 21st Century Team was strapped in and set to go. Most of the kids were excited about the trip to Japan, some even bouncing up. And those like Alex Hamilton, crying for his mom already. However, in the mist of all the excitement, there was some confusion. One student, Rachel, had snuck onto the bus without a teacher’s notice. She was just escorted out of the airport. But, for some reason, her appearance was changed. No one could put their finger on it. It was like her face had change suddenly as she was taken away. Her eyes seemed to grow darker, along with her hair streak.
Then, all of a sudden, the pilot could be heard over the intercom. “Ladies and gentlemen, I’m sorry. The plane is having technical difficulties. We’d very much appreciate it if everyone please descend off of the plane in an orderly fashion. Have a nice day.”
Grumbling complaints and fool words, team got off the plane.
“Well this is a total waste of time,” complained Dakota.
“I forgot my camera!” DeVaun yelled. “I’ll be right back!” DeVaun disappeared back onto the plane.
“Sir,” an attendant shouted at DeVaun. “Where are you going?”
“I forgot my camera, I have to go back and get it!”
“Alright, go ahead. But hurry up.”
DeVaun hurried to the seat where he was sitting. The camera wasn’t there. Looking around frantically, DeVaun turned. His camera was lying there on the ground.
“Thank God!” DeVaun said to himself. He quickly grabbed it and ran to the exit. It was too late. The walkway was slowly was wrapping itself up. DeVaun stood there, dumbfounded.
“What the heck!” He turned back around to the pilot’s cabin. No one was in there. He went to the stewardess’ cabin. Not a soul. Suddenly, the door to the plane slammed shut with a large thud. A chill ran up his spine. DeVaun turned around; he had a strange feeling he wasn’t alone.
A small clunk crescendoed through the plane. DeVaun turned around. There, lying on the floor, there was a large Zero candy. “Yeah!” DeVaun skipped over to pick up the bar. However, as soon as he did, the plane started to shake violently. Try not to fall over, DeVaun hung on to the seat next to him. Then, just as fast as it came, the plane’s trembling stopped.
“Oh, thank God!” he exclaimed. Then all DeVaun could see was darkness. A ghostly cackle ricocheted around him. “Who’s here?” Then he felt himself being sealed at the mouth. As he tried to struggle, a sharp pain erupted from his head. The darkness remained.
“Where is DeVaun?” asked Meliea. “He’s been gone for a while.”
“He’s coming, just be patient,” said Mr. Freehling.
Just then, a stewardess came rushing around the corner with a crowd of men in dark suits. “In here,” she spoke hurriedly. She was pointing toward the plane they had just exited from. The exact plane DeVaun had just gone into.
Mrs. Kittle warily walked up to one of the men. “What’s going on?”
“Something happened on the plane. One of the stewardesses found some blood and a note on the floor.”
“One of our students just went back onto the plane to get his camera.”
The man looked blankly at Mrs. Kittle. “Then you better come with us, madam.”
Everyone of the 21st Century Team filed into the plane. A large pool of blood contrasted against the white carpet like red wine on Egyptian cotton. Next to the puddle, there was a note on stained black paper. Ms. Xu picked up the paper with dainty fingers.
It read:
Team 21,
I hope you have enjoyed your trip so far. As you have probably noticed if you have half a brain, you have a missing student. DeVaun Evans will be permanently missing until further notice. There will be no arguing or quarrelling on the matter.
Enjoy your time here. Ta-ta.
Dark Demon
“Who did this?” asked a horrified Radzak.
“We don’t know,” replied the security guard. “The only DNA found at the scene was your student, DeVaun Evans. And it wasn’t from the blood. That blood came from the culprit.”
Sending their finest scanners and machines to work, they soon had a villain for the kidnapping of DeVaun Evans.
“Kodey did it,” whispered Nikkita.
“But how could Kodey do it? He’s not even here,” stated Allie.
“What do you mean he’s not here?” asked Mr. Freehling.
“He got left behind at the school,” said Christian. “Didn’t you see him running behind the bus, his arms waving frantically in the air, yelling: ‘Stop the bus! Don’t leave me!’?”
“I guess not.”
“Look, there he is!” said Ashley suddenly. Kodey was hiding behind one of the suitcases on the ground.
“Get him!” shouted Keilye. Screaming, all the kids ran after Kodey, who as soon as he discovered that they saw him, dashed for the nearest exit.
But, before he could get there, Braxton stuck out his foot and tripped him.
“I’m ninja like that, boy!” shouted Braxton, getting many stares obviously saying whether or not he’s sane.
Pressed up against the wall, thousands of questions were shot at Kodey.
“Alright, people take it easy. No, I didn’t take DeVaun, yes that puddle of blood belongs to me, and yes I left the note. DeVaun scratched me in the arm with his nails and made me bleed.”
“Got some pretty sharp nails to make all that blood,” commented Theemling.
Ignoring Theemling, Kodey continued. “I was sent to leave the note, but DeVaun was in the way. So, I dropped the note and toke DeVaun.”
“Who made you send the note?”
“The person who made me take DeVaun and bring you the note is ----”.
Then, a sudden flash of lightning shot through the window and struck Kodey in chest, his heart burning to the center. Then, another blot shot through the electricity lines of the airport, transforming the entire airstrip into darkness. Everyone swarmed in panic and dismay in blackness. Students exclaimed loud curses as they toppled over one another with a matter of klutziness. Security team members rushed around in order to locate a light source or power cable, something to create a speck of light in the darkness.
Three loud shrieks interrupted the frantic chaos; familiar shrieks of horror and panic. When the lights came back on, the entire Team was there. Well, almost the entire team.
“Where’s Nikkita?” asked Missy.
“And Ashley and Allie?” asked Brianna. The three of them were gone.
“Are you sure they’re gone?” Mrs. Kittle asked. “They could’ve gone to the bathroom or something.”
“They were standing right next to me,” said Ahn. “I would’ve noticed if they were going into the bathroom.”
Everyone searched frantically for the three missing girls. Where they were or how they disappeared, no one knew. But one thing was certain; something screwy was going on, as Hamilton would say.
The thunder and lightning outside crackled as the teachers sat down in a circle to discuss the night’s current events.
“Well, now we have four missing students. And we all know that Superintendent Miles will have all of our heads if we return to the school without them,” announced Radzak obviously.
“But how will we find them?” asked Ms. Xu. “We don’t know where they went. How can we find them when we don’t know where they are?”
“Maybe there’s something the abductor wants. If we give them what they want, then they’ll let us go.”
They pondered over this for a while.
“The question is,” whispered Mr. Theemling. “What do they want?”
Maybe it was strange. Maybe it was odd. Or maybe it was just a coincidence. Take your pick. But, a letter fluttered silently downward toward the teachers. Then, smacked Mrs. Kittle in the face.
“Oh my God!” she yelled. “I’m blind! Get it off me!”
Mr. Freehling pulled the envelope off of the screaming Kittle’s face and opened it slowly.
Everyone on the team gathered around eagerly to hear what the latter read.
It read:
Dear Team 21,
Again, unless your brains were sucked out with straws and put in a blender to put on puree, you have three more students missing. Again they will stay with me until further notice.
Without your knowing, I listened in on the conversation that the dear teachers were having. There indeed is something that I want from you. That is not to go on the trip to Japan. I realize that many of you may despise me for this request, but it only seems fit since I share the same consequence
All of you, as I know, witnessed Kodey Henzel’s death. To tell you the truth, it wasn’t much of a loss for me. It was a terrible help, not much of an assistant. His carelessness with taking DeVaun and almost reveling who I an was too large a mistake to pass on. I only saw fit to get rid of him. And, in legitimacy, it was a rather entertaining death to watch. I’m still chuckling about it.
As to finding out who I am, it will be made known in good time. If you fit the pieces of the puzzle together, so to speak, the your insignificant little puny brains can figure it out.
Until then, Team 21. Ta-ta
Dark Demon
“Insulting comments, long vocabulary half the team can understand, ‘sharing the same consequence’, enjoyment in pain. I know exactly who it is!” exclaimed Miss Lechnger.
“Who is it?” shouted the team, coincidently, all at the same time.
“It was…” Miss Lechnger started, then she was electrocuted. But not by lightning, by a large tazer.
“So sorry,” a voice said. Everyone whisked around to see who it was.
Rachel stood at the top floor on a rail. “I thought it fit to show myself on my own accord.” Her hair had turned black with a blonde streak, along with her white eyes. Talk about creepy.
“Don’t worry about Miss Lechnger, she’s not dead. Just stunned is all.”
“How did you get here?” asked Radzak angrily. “You were sent back to the school.”
“No I wasn’t,” she retorted. “The men who escorted me out were shocked with the tazer I used on our Globalization teacher just now. And if you’re wondering how Kodey was fried like spring chicken, I used a mirror to deflect the lightning. Easy as that.” Ray had a cruel smile on her face. She then jumped the 250 feet to the floor, landing on her feet, standing tall and erect. “Anybody here figure it out?”
No one raised their hands.
“Tisk, tisk, tisk. I really thought highly of you all. Now, will you fulfill my request and turn back to the school?”
“Never!!” shouted James, taking a ninja stance. He ran at her swinging his fist toward her face. Ray ducked the blow, landing a fist in the middle of his back. James’ back buckled, letting out a shout of pain, and landed on the floor.
“Any one else?” she asked conversationally calm, shifting her eyes from one person to the next restlessly.
“How about we all go on the trip, along with you, whither you turned in your slip or not? We’ll just need the passports and the missing students,” suggested Freehling.
“Fine,” said Ray. “The passports are in Ms. Drago’s suitcase, along with the tickets. The students are stuffed in that closet over there.”
The students, along with their bruises and DeVaun’s candy bar, were taken out of the closet and everyone went on the trip.
Oh Happy Day!!
