This year, in our study of Information Literacy, I will share moments of our life in Asia and Australia. We will study about the employment opportunities you will have as a young adult in different parts of the world. You will have an opportunity to connect with students all over Asia using the Internet.

Christmas December 26, 2004 Tsunami in Thailand


On December 26, 2004. My family and I flew to the beach in Thailand and took a long-tailed boat ride to our rented house. After we set our luggage on the beach, in rolled the wave.

When we finally made it to this beautiful country, now called Myanamar, we were so surprised by the kindness of the people after everything we heard in the media. The Burmese children had rarely seen Americans.

Jordan in now in 6th grade. He studied the Thai language and could understand simple conversations. He has spent most of his life outside of the USA.

For the past few years, my family and I lived and traveled throughout Asia.


This is my daughter Jessica kayaking in Halong Bay, Vietnam. She is now in 8th grade and loves living in Colorado.

Before we cover the details of this course, I would like you to introduce yourself to the class. You will create digital photographs of each other and add it to your blog posting. Please write your blog in at least 10 complete sentences. I will tell you a bit about my life in order to start the blog.

Mrs. Kittle's Information Literacy Class

This is a web-based information literacy course. Main topics include reliability of information sources, distinguishing between fact and opinion, writing in a variety of genres, and data manipulation. Projects for the class include: maintaining an informative website, determine the reliability of different documents, graphing data in favorable and unfavorable lights, making a multi-media presentation to sell a product, conducting interviews, and participating in blog sharing concerning global topics of interest.
